Taking Holidays During School Time
Your child has a right to a full education at Tywardreath School and research strongly indicates that absence from school has a detrimental effect on a pupil’s academic attainment.
- There are 175 days (weekends and school holidays) available to use for appointments and holidays
- There are 190 statutory school days in one year which your child needs to attend
- The school will not authorise any holidays during term time
To make satisfactory progress and establish good relationships with others, children must attend school regularly.
Parents must notify the school by phone in the event of illness on the first day of sickness. When absence is unexplained, after three days the school will initiate enquiries. We contact parents on day one if we have not heard from them.
The attendance policy states that the school will contact home if a pupil who normally travels to school unaccompanied does not appear. We contact all parents if a child does not show at school and we have not been informed why.
Pupils achieving 100% attendance each term will receive a certificate.
